Petrol up Rs 5; diesel jumps Rs 30 per litre for July 18

LAHORE: The government has reduced the prices of petroleum products, after which both petrol and diesel have become cheaper in the country than before.

According to the new notification issued by the government, the price of petrol has been reduced by one rupee and 49 paise per litre. After this reduction, the new price of petrol has been fixed at 387 rupees and 54 paise per litre.

The price of diesel has been reduced relatively more. After becoming cheaper by 2 rupees and 73 paise per litre, high-speed diesel will now be available for 402 rupees and 24 paise per litre.

The new prices have been fixed for September 30 and will be applicable from 12 midnight tonight. Thus, under the new prices, consumers will get a slight relief on their purchase of petrol and diesel in the coming period.

Changes in the prices of petroleum products have a direct impact on transport and daily travel expenses. The reduction in the price of diesel is considered important, especially for the freight and public transport sectors, as this fuel is used extensively in commercial activities.
