Weekly inflation declines, but uncertainty remains in food prices

Islamabad: The Federal Bureau of Statistics has released the latest weekly report on inflation in the country, according to which a 0.03 percent decrease has been recorded in the country, while inflation on an annual basis has been limited to 3.90 percent.

According to the report, a total of 12 daily necessities became more expensive, the prices of 10 decreased and the prices of 29 items remained unchanged.

According to the data, last week, the price of chicken saw the highest increase of 6.19 percent, while flour became more expensive by 2.88 percent. The prices of eggs, ghee, cooking oil and moong dal were also recorded to increase.

On the contrary, the prices of vegetables and some other items decreased significantly. The price of tomatoes decreased by 16.18 percent, sugar became cheaper by 4.91 percent, while onions became cheaper by 4.08 percent and potatoes became cheaper by 1.71 percent. The prices of bananas, gram dal, masoor dal and LPG also came down.
