ISLAMABAD: A slight but significant increase has been made in the prices of liquefied natural gas (LNG) in Pakistan for August. According to a notification issued by OGRA, the new price on the Sui Northern system has been fixed at $11.73 per MMBTU, while on the Sui Southern system it has been fixed at $10.72 per MMBTU.

Energy experts say that this increase may seem small, but it can increase the overall cost for industrial production and domestic consumers. According to experts, this change in prices is a result of fluctuations in the global energy market, the dollar exchange rate and an increase in import costs.

Business circles believe that industries dependent on gas, especially textiles, fertilizers and CNG sectors, will feel the effects of this increase directly. In addition, gas bills of domestic consumers may also increase in the coming months.

Experts say that the next trend in prices will depend on global market conditions and the government’s import strategy, while further increases are possible due to increased demand in winter.
