Karachi: The benchmark KSE-100 Index at the Pakistan Stock Exchange posted strong weekly gains, closing higher despite considerable volatility in trading sessions.
The index rose by 6,747 points over the course of the week to settle at 173,939. During the period, it fluctuated within a broad range of 14,245 points, touching a high of 174,404 and a low of 160,158.
Market activity remained brisk, with a total of 5.18 billion shares traded, generating a turnover of Rs241.9 billion. The high volume indicates continued investor engagement in the equity market.
Despite the upward movement in the index, total market capitalisation declined by Rs776 billion to Rs19,250 billion, suggesting losses in select sectors and possible profit-taking.
Analysts noted that while the overall trend remained positive, fluctuations reflected cautious investor behaviour amid broader economic developments.
