Islamabad: Speculations about a possible reduction in the prices of petroleum products in Pakistan have intensified, as the global crude oil prices continue to decline.
Sources say that the government may review the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel for the next 15 days starting from December 16, 2025. According to initial estimates, a slight reduction in the price of petrol is expected, while a significant reduction in the price of diesel is expected.
According to reports, the price of high-speed diesel is likely to be reduced by Rs 11.85 per liter, while the price of petrol is expected to decrease by only 36 paisa per liter, which is considered less than public expectations.
Energy experts say that a reduction in the price of diesel is more effective for the economy, as it is widely used in freight, agricultural machinery and public transport.
According to energy analyst Engineer Fahad Malik, “If the government decides to significantly reduce the price of diesel, it could reduce the cost of delivering essential commodities, which will indirectly benefit the common consumer.”
It should be noted that the final announcement of the new prices of petroleum products will be made after the approval of the federal government. The public hopes that the real benefit of the reduction in the global market will be passed on to domestic consumers.
