Islamabad: A large number of taxpayers complained that they were receiving messages to submit tax returns despite the due date, on which the Federal Board of Revenue has issued a clarification on the matter.
The FBR says that the agency did not order any such campaign or reminder. According to research, these messages were automatically sent to citizens’ mobile numbers due to a system glitch in telecom networks.
Taking immediate action on the situation, the department has requested the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to contact the telecom companies and fix the fault to save users from unnecessary confusion.
Digital security experts say that such a fault creates uncertainty among users and highlights the need to further strengthen the government communication system.
