Islamabad: Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb presented important statistics related to the country’s economy during a press conference in Islamabad and said that the journey towards economic stability is continuing in a positive manner. He said that the process of reforms is accelerating and remittances from Pakistanis living abroad have increased significantly.
The Finance Minister said that the 5 per cent increase in the country’s overall exports is a sign of restoration of economic confidence, while the improvement in the manufacturing sector shows the improvement in the investment climate.
He said that the reduction in policy rates has reduced the burden on the government’s debt payments and improved financial discipline. According to him, the IT industry is performing better every month, and the government is providing more opportunities to the private sector.
Muhammad Aurangzeb said that on the instructions of the Prime Minister, a summary for abolishing the export development surcharge has been sent to the cabinet, which will further reduce the cost of exporters.
He said that the government is preparing to issue Panda Bonds soon, which will be an important means of bringing foreign capital into the country’s economy. The Finance Minister also said that a meeting regarding the NFC award is expected next week, in which important decisions will be taken on the fiscal relations of the provinces and the federation.
