PTA’s new initiative: Unregistered mobile phones can be used for only 60 days

Islamabad:The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has taken an important decision to further improve the Mobile Device Registration and Blocking System (DIRBS).

According to a statement issued by the PTA, the aim of this initiative is to make the device identification, registration, blocking system, and management more effective. This decision will not only benefit the PTA but also mobile network operators in DIRBS operations.

The statement further said that users will be provided with ease in timely registration of mobile devices and payment of taxes, which will also prevent the use of illegal and smuggled mobile phones.

According to the PTA, now any unregistered mobile phone will be usable on the network for a maximum of 60 days. If the tax is not paid within the stipulated period, the relevant phone will be automatically blocked again.
