Lahore: New medical research has revealed that a diet rich in potassium, especially bananas, can significantly reduce the risk of heart diseases.

Experts from Copenhagen University Hospital in Denmark studied 1,200 heart patients who had defibrillators installed in their bodies and had low potassium levels. Experts advised the patients to increase potassium through diet, while some were also provided with supplements and medicines. According to the results, patients whose potassium levels became normal or high were found to have a 24% lower risk of irregular heartbeat, heart failure, or death.
