Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has opened new avenues of development projects while chairing an important meeting in Lahore. The meeting approved the establishment of the province’s first airline ‘Air Punjab’, under which four Airbus aircraft will be leased initially. Maryam Nawaz directed to expedite all preparations to make ‘Air Punjab’ the country’s top airline.
The meeting also reviewed in detail the Lahore Yellow Line and Gujranwala Mass Transit Line projects and fixed deadlines for their study. The Chief Minister was also briefed on the e-taxi project.
Along with this, the Lahore to Rawalpindi high-speed bullet train project was approved in principle, for which collaboration with Pakistan Railways and public-private partnership model is being considered. Maryam Nawaz entrusted senior minister Maryam Aurangzeb with the responsibility of coordinating with the railway authorities.
In addition, work on 6 new high-speed train routes across Punjab has also been planned, which include establishment of high-speed rail links from Lahore to Shahdara, Narowal, Raiwind, Kasur, Pakpattan, Lodhran, Sheikhupura, Shorkot, Jhang and Sargodha.
