LAHORE: Federal Minister for Finance Muhammad Aurangzeb has admitted that the government has failed to deliver the benefits of inflation reduction to the people.
At the same time, not much success has been achieved in preventing corruption in the FBR. Talking to the media in Lahore, he said the prices of essential commodities such as sugar, chicken, and pulses were decreasing globally but still remained high in the country, largely due to the unfair role of middlemen.
The Finance Minister said that effective steps would be taken to control the prices in collaboration with the provincial governments and administration, and no one would be allowed to be arbitrary. Mohammad Aurangzeb, while openly admitting to bribery and corruption in the FBR, said that action was being taken against such officers and appealed to the business community to refrain from giving bribes. He said the cooperation of both sides is necessary to end corruption. Because the clap of a bribe rings with both hands.
