Karachi: After a volatile trading week at the Pakistan Stock Exchange, the market ended the day on a modest positive note, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index gaining 120 points.
The 100 Index closed at 168580 points at the close of business. The market witnessed significant volatility during the day, and the index moved in a wide band of around 1,206 points.
According to market sources, investors were focused on the political situation and developments in Islamabad. In this environment, cautious behavior was prominent in business activities.
A total of about 580 million shares were traded in the stock market, worth Rs 22 billion. This volume reflects active trading in the market; however, the limited increase in the index also reflects the cautious attitude of investors.
On the other hand, the total value of the market increased by Rs 35 billion, and the market capitalization reached Rs 18,747 billion at the end of the business.
Overall, there was a slight increase in today’s activity; however, the wide fluctuations during the day showed that investors are waiting for a clearer direction in the political and economic situation.
