ISLAMABAD: US Vice President JD Vance has revealed in an interview with a British news website that an important meeting is expected in Doha soon as part of efforts to promote diplomatic relations between Iran and the United States. According to him, the possible meeting between the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and US CENTCOM officials is aimed at reducing tensions between the two countries and advancing the process of confidence-building.
JD Vance said that various diplomatic initiatives in recent months have created new opportunities for dialogue and communication in the region. According to him, in the proposed meeting, the two sides can discuss current differences, regional security and the possibilities of possible cooperation in the future.
The US Vice President said that direct contacts are an important step towards resolving any dispute. He argued that continued diplomatic contacts help reduce misunderstandings and make progress on issues on which the two countries have long had differences.
He also said that the Gulf countries, especially the United Arab Emirates, have also established new contacts with Iran that were not seen in the past. According to him, these contacts also include direct discussions on some issues aimed at promoting stability in the region.
According to JD Vance, topics such as economic cooperation, trade opportunities, confidence-building measures and regional security may be discussed in the possible talks. He said that economic ties and diplomatic cooperation play an important role in lasting stability in any region.
Political observers say that if this meeting takes place in Doha, it can be considered a significant breakthrough in US-Iranian relations. The two countries have had differences on various political and security issues for many years, but recent diplomatic activities show the possibility of improving relations.
According to experts, Qatar has played a mediating role in various regional and international disputes in the past, due to which Doha is considered an important centre for diplomatic negotiations. The possible meeting is also being described as part of this diplomatic environment.
Analysts believe that if the negotiation process progresses successfully, not only can relations between the United States and Iran improve, but it can also have positive effects on the stability and economic activities of the entire Middle East.
