Geneva: Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi has linked national dignity, diplomatic progress and Iranian resolve in the field of sports in a symbolic message, saying that the defense of the honor and dignity of the Iranian people continues on all fronts.
Araqchi shared a photo on social media that showed images of Iranian schoolgirls killed in recent US and Israeli attacks with scenes from the Football World Cup. In his message with the photo, he said that from the football field to the negotiating table and the battlefield, every step of the Iranian nation is part of the struggle to protect the dignity and national interests of its people.
The statement came at a time when reports of progress are emerging in the ongoing diplomatic contacts between Iran and the US in Switzerland. Diplomatic sources involved in the mediation process have welcomed positive developments on some issues, although no final agreement has been announced yet.
Meanwhile, Iran’s national football team maintained its momentum in a crucial World Cup match by drawing with Belgium. Iranian media described the result as a sign of national determination and collective courage.
Political observers say Araghchi’s message is not just an emotional statement but also a well-considered diplomatic message, seeking to highlight Iran’s internal unity and international stance. Analysts say the outcome of the talks in Switzerland could have a significant impact on the region’s future political direction.
