Bergenstock (Pakistans Observer) — Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has appreciated the efforts made by the Iranian leadership to reduce tensions in the region during important diplomatic contacts held in the Bergenstock area of Switzerland and said that in the current situation, negotiations and diplomacy are the only way to peace and stability.
Talking to the media on Sunday, the Prime Minister said that the Iranian delegation displayed extraordinary patience, dignity and responsibility during the negotiations. He said that the Iranian leadership appears serious about establishing lasting peace in the region and is keen to resolve conflicts through diplomatic means instead of escalating them.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that in the current regional situation, all parties must show patience and wisdom so that the wider region, including the Middle East, does not fall victim to any new crisis. He stressed that war and conflict are not a permanent solution to any problem, while dialogue and mutual respect can be the basis for lasting stability.
In his speech, the Prime Minister also expressed a positive opinion about US President Donald Trump. He said that in his opinion, President Trump is a peace-loving leader and has played a role in reducing tensions and resolving conflicts on various occasions. According to the Prime Minister, diplomatic efforts played an important role even during the tense situation between Pakistan and India in South Asia.
Expressing hope regarding Pakistan-US relations, Shehbaz Sharif said that there are clear signs of the beginning of a new era between the two countries. He said that there is a need to further expand cooperation between Islamabad and Washington so that common interests can be promoted in various sectors including trade, investment, energy, defense and regional stability.
According to political observers, the Prime Minister’s statement comes at a time when the international community is trying to find a diplomatic solution due to the ongoing tension in the Middle East. Experts say that Pakistan has consistently maintained that negotiations, respect for international law and diplomatic relations are essential for resolving conflicts.
The Prime Minister also reiterated on this occasion that Pakistan supports peace, development and economic cooperation in the region. According to him, regional stability is not only essential for political peace but also fundamental for economic development, investment and public prosperity.
Analysts say that if regional powers succeed in taking the negotiation process forward, its positive effects can be felt not only in the Middle East but also in the wider region, including South Asia. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s recent statements also reflect the same diplomatic thinking in which talks have been given top priority to resolve conflicts.
