TEHRAN — In a series of coordinated and sharply worded statements, Iran’s top diplomatic, parliamentary, and military leadership have issued a stern warning to Washington and its regional allies, asserting that any future military aggression against Iran will trigger a conflict that extends far “beyond the region”.
The statements reflect a hardening stance in Tehran, where officials are framing their economic demands as basic rights rather than concessions, while boasting enhanced battlefield readiness following recent military engagements.
Sanctions Relief a Right, Not a Favor: Esmaeil Baghaei
Speaking to a Brazilian newspaper in an exclusive interview, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei clarified Tehran’s baseline stance regarding its fractured relationship with the United States.
Baghaei emphasised that Iran is not approaching the table with a list of extraordinary demands but is simply asking for what it is legally owed.
- A Matter of Rights: “Fundamentally, what we want from the United States is not a set of demands, but our legitimate rights,” Baghaei stated.
- Economic Restrictions: He further noted that the lifting of unilateral US sanctions on Iran should not be viewed as a diplomatic concession but rather as the restoration of the country’s fundamental economic rights.
Enemy Seeking a ‘New Round of War’: Speaker Qalibaf
Meanwhile, Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf alerted lawmakers and observers to the shifting dynamics on the ground, suggesting that regional adversaries are actively looking to reignite hostilities despite recent pauses.
“The enemy’s current movements and tactical shifts clearly indicate that they are looking for a new round of war,” Qalibaf warned.
However, the speaker noted that Iran’s armed forces have not let their guard down. Instead, the military utilised the recent ceasefire period effectively to fortify its defensive positions, consolidate its assets, and strengthen its strategic capabilities.
‘The Next Conflict Will Spill Beyond the Region’ — IRGC
The most severe warnings came from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). Military commanders cautioned that the scope of any future conflict would be vastly different from previous encounters, hinting at global or extra-regional capabilities.
- Withheld Capabilities: The IRGC stated that during the last round of military confrontation, Iran deliberately held back and did not deploy its full military and technological arsenal.
- Geographical Expansion: “If Iran is targeted again, this war will not remain contained. It will expand well beyond the borders of this region”, the IRGC statement warned.
- New Strategic Assets: Commanders asserted that any fresh provocation would immediately activate Iran’s “new regional and extra-regional capabilities”.
- A Warning to Social Media Analysts: In a direct jab at psychological warfare and online rhetoric, the IRGC concluded that its true power is not meant for “hollow statements on social media” but will be demonstrated decisively on the actual battlefield.
Foreign Minister Promises More ‘Surprises’
Echoing the military’s confidence, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi took to the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) to deliver a brief but potent message to adversaries.
Araghchi noted that recent military encounters have served as a live-fire training ground for local forces. “The Iranian military has gained invaluable operational experience from recent aggressions,” Araghchi wrote, warning that if the country is forced into another military showdown, “the enemy will face even greater surprises” than before.
