Iran Criticizes US for “Double Standards” in Global Politics

Lahore – Iran’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Amir Saeed Ervani, has made strong accusations against the United States, saying that Washington is responsible for targeting not only Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities but also civilian infrastructure. According to him, these actions are tantamount to a clear violation of international law and the UN Charter.

In his statement, the Iranian representative said that the United States is the only country in history that has used nuclear weapons, and even today the same country justifies policies against other countries in the name of peace and human rights in the world. He said that the international community should take notice of this double standard, where, on the one hand, the United States presents itself as a champion of peace and, on the other hand, it escalates the war situation in various regions.

Amir Saeed Ervani added that the United States has repeatedly used the Security Council platform for its political purposes. According to him, UN institutions were used to spread disinformation, false accusations and misleading narratives against Iran on a global scale, which is contrary to international diplomatic principles.

He alleged that the US has not only imposed illegal sanctions against Iran but also supported specific parties in the ongoing conflicts in the region, which has further increased instability in the Middle East. According to him, this policy is dangerous not only for the region but also for world peace.

The Iranian delegate also said in his statement that the US presents itself as the champion of international justice, but in practice it is the same country that is playing the role of both “prosecutor and judge”. According to him, this situation is a big question mark for the international system, because powerful countries are interpreting the laws according to their own wishes.

He also raised questions about the role of the UN Security Council and said that this institution is used by some powerful countries for their political interests, which affects its impartiality. He said that if international institutions really want justice, they must treat all countries equally.

According to analysts, this rhetoric between Iran and the United States could further exacerbate the already existing tensions in the region, especially at a time when the Middle East is already experiencing political and security challenges.

International observers say that such harsh statements at the United Nations not only reflect diplomatic tensions but can also affect the negotiation process in the future. However, some experts also say that these statements are mostly part of diplomatic pressure and an attempt to influence global public opinion.

Overall, this situation indicates that the crisis of trust between Iran and the United States is still deep, and questions remain about the role of international institutions.
