Attacks from Afghan soil unacceptable, Pakistan gave a befitting reply: Foreign Office

Islamabad: Foreign Office Spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said in a weekly press briefing that during October, unprovoked attacks were carried out by Afghanistan on Pakistan, to which Pakistan responded befittingly at the border level.

He said that Pakistan wants peace but will not compromise on its sovereignty and the security of its citizens.

The spokesperson clarified that Pakistan responded responsibly to the tension on the Pak-Afghan border, however, if there is any aggression in the future, a strong response will be given.

He said that the second phase of the Istanbul talks between Pakistan and the Afghan Taliban government has been completed, in which Pakistan participated with positive spirit. Pakistan’s position was that Afghan soil should not become a haven for terrorist groups.

He said that during the last four years, Pakistan provided information about terrorist organizations to the Afghan authorities, but despite assurances, the attacks increased.

The spokesperson said that Pakistan hopes that progress will be made in the talks to be held on November 6, and Pakistan appreciates the constructive role of Qatar and Turkey.

According to the spokesperson, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, visited Saudi Arabia from October 27 to 29.

The delegation attended the Future Investment Initiative Forum, which was attended by world leaders, investors and policymakers.

The Prime Minister’s meeting with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman resulted in an agreement to launch an economic cooperation framework.
