We have to fight a new war in the economic field; the real journey of Pakistan will start now. Shehbaz Sharif

Islamabad: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that Pakistan shot down six enemy warplanes, including Rafales, MiGs, and drones. Today we are celebrating “Youm-e-Tashakur” with the resolve that Pakistan will now begin its real journey.

A special “Youm-e-Tashakur” ceremony was held at the Pakistan Monument in Islamabad, where the prime minister was the chief guest. The ceremony was attended by the leadership of the armed forces, service chiefs, federal ministers, diplomats, and families of the martyrs. On the occasion, the Pakistan Air Force saluted the spirit of the nation through a flypast and offered prayers for the martyrs.

The prime minister said the decision to take action was taken after consultation with the military leadership on the night of May 9 and 10, when the enemy attacked the civilian population, in which a 6-year-old child was also martyred. At 2:30 pm, the army chief reported that the enemy had fired missiles, which allowed an immediate response.

He added that a few hours later the enemy requested a ceasefire, to which we said that Allah Almighty had given us the lead; now the path of peace should be taken. Shahbaz Sharif said that the enemy has been given such a wound that he will not forget it till doomsday.

The Prime Minister said that now is the time to show the same spirit in the economic field that the Pakistan Army showed on the battlefield. He said that we fought three wars but could not achieve peace; now the problem of Kashmir can be solved only through peaceful dialogue.

Referring to the sacrifices made against terrorism, he said Pakistan had suffered 90,000 casualties and an economic loss of $150 billion, adding that the entire nation was grateful to General Asim Munir for his inspiring leadership.
