The PDMA has issued an advisory to the people to be alert.

LAHORE: The Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued an alert to the public and concerned departments in view of the unusual rise in temperature and the possibility of sudden rains across the province. In view of the climatic changes, the PDMA has warned that from April 16 to 20, there is a possibility of thunderstorm and rain along with gusty winds in different areas of Punjab, which may result in an increased risk of accidents.

According to the PDMA spokesperson, severe weather conditions are expected in several districts including Rawalpindi, Murree, Attock, Chakwal, Gujrat, Jhelum, Gujranwala, Lahore, Kasur, Sialkot, Okara, Faisalabad, Khushab and Mianwali. These areas may experience strong winds accompanied by sudden rains, which is likely to cause damage to buildings, power systems and crops.

Director General PDMA Irfan Ali Kathia has directed the public to avoid going to open places during lightning and avoid unnecessary travel. He said that if anyone needs help, the PDMA’s 24/7 helpline 1129 should be contacted immediately.

In addition, officials of the Department of Education, Health, Local Government and Livestock have also been alerted to be prepared to deal with possible accidents. The intensity of heat is predicted to increase further in the plains by the end of April, urging the public to take precautions to prevent heatwaves and heatwaves.

According to meteorologists, temperatures have been recorded above normal in March and April this year, after which a series of sudden rains may begin. The PDMA has urged citizens to avoid standing under trees or near vulnerable buildings, as they may be damaged by strong winds.

Officials say that although the rains may cause a temporary decrease in heat, sudden weather changes can cause accidents, so caution and caution are necessary.
