Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has issued instructions for advance arrangements across the province in view of the new spell of rains starting from August 23. She has ordered special measures and emergency plans to be prepared in major cities including Lahore, Rawalpindi and Multan.
The Chief Minister clarified that “clinics on wheels” and field hospitals should be established to provide timely medical facilities to the flood victims. Along with this, the Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners have been directed to remain alert and ensure immediate access to the affected areas.
The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has been directed to ensure the implementation of a comprehensive plan to shift the residential populations near the rivers Jhelum, Chenab, Ravi and Sutlej to safe places in a timely manner.
CM Maryam Nawaz said that all institutions should remain alert to protect public life and property and take immediate action on advance warnings so that any emergency situation can be dealt with effectively.
