Lahore: Due to recent unusual rains in Punjab, a flood situation has arisen in several districts, on which the government has become active. Provincial Information Minister Uzma Bukhari has said that the protection of the life and property of the people is the top priority of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, and the provincial government is taking all possible measures.
In her statement, Uzma Bukhari said that record rains occurred in various districts of Punjab, especially Chakwal, Jhelum, and Rawalpindi, as a result of which rivers and canals overflowed and water entered low-lying areas.
She said that teams of Rescue 1122, PDMA, and district administration were immediately mobilized and played an important role in saving the lives of citizens. She further said that Pakistan Army personnel also shifted dozens of people to safe places.
According to the details:
- 450 people from Rawalpindi
- 298 people from Jhelum
- 209 people from Chakwal
- 64 more citizens from Jhelum
- were rescued by the army and shifted to safe places.
Uzma Bukhari said that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz is personally supervising all rescue and relief operations and all institutions have been instructed that no negligence of any kind will be tolerated.
She appealed to the citizens to be careful, stay in touch with the district administration, and avoid unnecessary travel to avoid any possible harm.
