Islamabad: Leader of PML-N Senator Irfan Siddiqui has crtisized PTI’s demands, saying they seem more like a charge sheet against the government than genuine needs. Speaking at a news conference in Islamabad, Siddiqui said the government has chosen to answer PTI’s requests in writing.

He said that PTI has suggested fifteen odd and impractical Terms of Reference (TORs) for commission establishment. Regarding PTI’s demand for an “independent meeting” with the founder of their party, Siddiqui said that while these kinds of gatherings may take place in homes or public venues, they are not practical inside jails.

Given allegations by PTI’s Barrister Gohar that talks with the establishment were already under way, a journalist asked during the press conference the importance of negotiations. Siddiqui underlined that the allusion was to the security situation of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and underlined that political matters should be addressed with politicians rather than the military.

He voiced dismay at political manipulation of national security issues and refuted claims of direct military negotiations. Siddiqui further questioned the timing of reports about a meeting with PTI’s chairman, which took place days before the negotiating date, implying major issues.
