Islamabad: The National Assembly Speaker arranged a meeting of both negotiation committees from the government and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for January 28. The government’s negotiation committee spokesperson, Irfan Siddiqui, confirmed that PTI leaders will attend the upcoming meeting. In statements to the media, PTI has not sent any written declarations about refusing negotiations. Furthermore, the party has not formally rejected invitations for negotiation meetings.

The government continues dialoguing while asking PTI leadership to meet on January 28 for their government response. According to PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar, the party has decided not to engage in additional negotiation sessions.

In a press conference at Adiala Jail’s entrance, Barrister Gohar affirmed Imran Khan’s announcement that discussions with the government had been terminated by the party’s former Prime Minister. According to Khan, the government had received a seven-day commission deadline and failed to comply with the requirement.

Gohar declared PTI had attempted to progress talks, but the government blocked meaningful negotiations since it did not form the commission. The January 28 meeting boycott by PTI demonstrates growing deadlock continues to separate both parties.
