PSX bears down KSE-100 closes below 180 thousand

Karachi – The Pakistan Stock Exchange was bearish on Tuesday, with the benchmark KSE-100 index closing at 179,846.68 points, down 1,463.60 points, or 0.81 percent.

According to market data provided by the Pakistan Stock Exchange, the KSE-100 opened the trading day at 181,017.29 points. The index touched its highest level during the day at the same level, while its lowest level was 179,778.99 points.

The index fell below the 180,000-point mark at the end of the trading day. The KSE-100 index constant volume stood at 370.24 million.

Despite the overall decline, shares of some prominent companies supported the index. HBL contributed the most to the KSE-100 with a positive contribution of 155.29 points, while MEUBL contributed 96.42 points. POL added 26.88 points, HMB added 17.31 points and IBFL added 14.37 points.

On the other hand, FFC had the most negative impact on the index, losing 256.95 points. ENGROH contributed 163.18 points, LUCK 143.46 points, UBL 111.04 points and BAHL 103.25 points.

The other major index KMI-30 also ended the trading session with a negative contribution. The index closed at 253,007.72 points, down 2,717.47 points or 1.06 per cent.

The KMI-30 opened the day at 255,275.57 points and touched a high of 255,573.36 points during the session. It recorded a low of 252,818.78 points.

In the KMI-30, MEUBL was the top contributor with 275.60 points. GAL added 34.08 points, PRL added 20.86 points while GHNI added 0.50 points.

On the downside, ENGROH was the top contributor with 497.52 points. FFC added 496.42 points, LUCK added 410.05 points, OGDC added 227.10 points and HUBC added 195.27 points.

According to the data, the KSE-100 has performed 0.25 percent negative since the beginning of the financial year, while the index has increased by 3.33 percent during the calendar year. The KMI-30 has performed 1.68 percent negative since the beginning of the financial year and 1.80 percent positive during the calendar year.

According to the available market data, both the major indices recorded a decline in Tuesday’s session, while the shares of various large companies played both positive and negative roles in the overall movement.
