Lahore: The excitement for cricket fans in Pakistan has reached a fever pitch as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) officially unveiled the schedule for the 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL 2026). This season marks a historic milestone for the league, expanding from six to eight franchises for the first time in its decade-long history.

The 39-day cricketing extravaganza is set to kick off on March 26, 2026, at the iconic Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. The opening match will see the defending champions, Lahore Qalandars, face off against one of the league’s newest entrants, the Hyderabad Kingsmen.

A Historic Expansion

The addition of two new teams—Hyderabad Kingsmen and Rawalpindi Pindiz—has injected fresh energy into the tournament. These franchises were acquired for record-breaking sums during the January auction, signalling the league’s growing commercial value and popularity. With eight teams now in the mix, the tournament format has shifted to include 44 matches, ensuring more action for fans across the country.

New Venues and Nationwide Reach

In a move to take top-tier cricket to more cities, the PCB has included six venues for the 2026 season. While traditional hubs like Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Multan remain central, Faisalabad and Peshawar will host PSL matches for the first time.

  • Faisalabad’s Iqbal Stadium is set to host 7 matches.
  • Peshawar’s Imran Khan Cricket Stadium will welcome the league with a high-voltage clash between Peshawar Zalmi and Rawalpindi Pindiz on March 28.

Key Matchups to Watch

The schedule is packed with 12 double-headers, ensuring a fast-paced league stage. Notable fixtures include:

  • The Karachi-Lahore Rivalry: The first clash between Karachi Kings and Lahore Qalandars is scheduled for March 29 at Gaddafi Stadium.
  • The Pindi Derby: Local rivals Islamabad United and Rawalpindi Pindiz will go head-to-head on April 4 and April 23.
  • The Grand Finale: The tournament will conclude on May 3, 2026, with the final taking place at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore.

The league stage will wrap up in late April, leading into a high-stakes playoff round starting April 28. With an auction-based player selection system replacing the old draft method this year, the squads look more balanced and competitive than ever.
