Islamabad – President Asif Ali Zardari has said that Pakistan stands with the international community in its efforts for world peace and stability and will continue to play its role for peace in the region.

Addressing the inauguration ceremony of the Victory Memorial, President Zardari appreciated Pakistan’s defence capability and the performance of the armed forces. He said that under the leadership of Field Marshal, Pakistan fought against India in the war of truth and achieved success.

The President called the Victory Memorial a symbol of the sacrifices of martyrs and ghazis. According to him, this memorial will continue to remind the nation of the sacrifices made for the defence of the homeland.

Asif Ali Zardari also mentioned Pakistan’s diplomatic role. He said that the country is working with the international community for peace and prosperity. According to him, Pakistan’s efforts for peace and stability in the region are also recognised at the global level.

The President also referred to the issue of ceasefire between Iran and the United States. He said that the Field Marshal, Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister played an important role in this process.

Pakistan has supported diplomatic contacts in the past to reduce regional tensions. The President’s statement shows that Islamabad considers negotiations and diplomacy as important means to resolve regional disputes.

Speaking on the situation in Gaza, Asif Ali Zardari reiterated Pakistan’s support for the Palestinian people. He expressed concern over the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza and Israeli operations and said that the situation there was unacceptable.

The President also rejected the concept of a so-called Greater Israel. According to him, the rights of the Palestinian people cannot be ignored for lasting peace in the region.

Pakistan has long supported the establishment of a Palestinian state and the right of self-determination of the Palestinian people. Islamabad has also expressed its support for a two-state solution at international forums.

President Zardari’s address gave importance to both defence preparedness and diplomatic efforts. On the one hand, he appreciated the role of the armed forces in national defence, while on the other hand, he emphasised the peaceful resolution of international conflicts.

This balance is important for Pakistan in the current regional situation. Relations with India, the situation in Afghanistan, and the ongoing tensions in the Middle East can directly affect Pakistan’s security and economy.

In his address, the President made it clear that Pakistan will continue to cooperate with the international community for peace. At the same time, he reiterated Pakistan’s position on the rights of the Palestinian people and national defence.
