Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has said that Pakistan will work on joint projects with reliable partner countries to promote defence cooperation and strengthen the country’s defence industry. He clarified that all steps in this regard will be taken in accordance with relevant domestic and international laws and regulations.
In a statement issued on October 21, the Defence Minister said that the Badr MoU reflects the shared commitment of Pakistan, Turkey, Qatar and Indonesia to enhance cooperation in the defence sector and regional peace and stability. The agreement aims to expand cooperation in the areas of defence production, technical training and research and development.
According to Khawaja Asif, Pakistan wants to take advantage of the possibilities of joint production, industrial cooperation and technology transfer to strengthen self-reliance in the defence sector. For this purpose, focus will be on combining the capabilities of the defence industries of the partner countries and promoting joint research and development projects.
Under the Badr MoU, the four countries will explore opportunities to create industrial capabilities compatible with modern defence requirements and increase mutual cooperation in the defence sector. However, further progress and cooperation between the relevant parties will be necessary to translate these objectives into practical plans.
