ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has said that Pakistan will respond to every step taken by India. He announced that Pakistan has closed the Wagah border, airspace, and all kinds of trade with India with immediate effect. In addition, the number of Indian diplomatic staff has been limited, and defense advisers have been instructed to leave the country as persona non grata.
Ishaq Dar said that India’s announcement of the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty is unilateral and unacceptable. He warned that if India stopped the water from Pakistan’s side, it would be considered an act of war. He added that Pakistan reserves the right to suspend the Simla Agreement.
The Foreign Minister said that there was no mention of the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty in the D-marsh given to the Pakistani Nazim Alamur posted in India, which shows that India’s announcement is just a political tactic.
Ishaq Dar said that Pakistan has evidence that there are foreigners in Srinagar who have heavy weapons, and Indian intelligence agencies are backing them. He said that if India has any evidence of the Pahalgam attack, it should share it with the world and Pakistan.
The Deputy Prime Minister made it clear that Pakistan wants peace but is ready to give a befitting reply to any misadventure. He said India’s irresponsible behavior is a threat to peace in the region, and Pakistan will take all possible steps to defend itself.
