Rawalpindi – The Armed Forces of Pakistan, while congratulating the nation on the occasion of 79th Independence Day, paid tribute to the founders of Pakistan, martyrs, ghazis, ex-servicemen, law enforcement officers and all citizens who served the country.
In a message issued by the Armed Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defense Forces, Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Chief of Naval Staff, and Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu, Chief of Air Staff, expressed their best wishes for the nation.
The message recalled the struggle of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah and the leaders of the Pakistan Movement. The military leadership said that independence was achieved as a result of a long struggle, determination and sacrifices.
The Armed Forces, while paying tribute to the sacrifices of the martyrs, also appreciated the services of ex-servicemen and law enforcement officers. According to the message, the sacrifices and services of these individuals strengthened the security and national stability of Pakistan.
The military leadership also reiterated its commitment to safeguarding the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The message said that the armed forces attach importance to upholding the constitution and the responsibility of earning the trust of the people.
According to the armed forces, Pakistan’s strength lies in the unity and collective resolve of its people. The nation was also urged to further strengthen its commitment to the principles of faith, unity and discipline on the occasion of Independence Day.
The message called national harmony, tolerance and mutual cooperation essential for the country’s development. The military leadership said that the nation and institutions must play a joint role for a safe, stable and prosperous Pakistan.
The armed forces also expressed their commitment to establishing peace. However, they also clarified that the responsibility of protecting the country’s sovereignty, security and national interests will be fulfilled.
Independence Day is celebrated in Pakistan on August 14 every year. On this occasion, various events are held at the official and public levels across the country, while the national flag hoisting and paying tribute to the founder of Pakistan continue.
