Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Barrister Gowher Ali Khan has made it clear that the decision to not attend the National Security Committee meeting is the party’s collective stand, and as chairman, he is not authorized to take any decision alone. Talking to mediapersons outside the Adiala Jail, he said the party had put certain conditions before attending the meeting, including meeting the PTI founder. A letter was also written for this purpose, but the request has not been implemented yet.
Responding to reporters’ questions, Barrister Gohar said that for him, Pakistan is the most litigant, but it is also his responsibility to abide by the party’s decision. He rejected the impression that the PTI was politicizing national security issues, and made it clear that there should be no room for any compromise on sensitive issues like terrorism. He said that for the integrity and stability of the country, everyone has to come together, and the national interest should always be given priority.
When asked if he thought the party’s decision was correct and timely, he adopted a cautious approach, saying he could not give a personal opinion and would abide by whatever decision the party takes. He added that it is necessary to adopt a uniform stance on important issues like national security in Pakistan’s politics. So that the country does not fall prey to any kind of internal or external conspiracies.
