Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) boycotts national security meet, insists on meeting Imran Khan

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has refused to attend a meeting of the National Security Committee (NSC) as it was not allowed to meet party founder Imran Khan. PTI leader Salman Akram Raja said the party’s political committee had unanimously decided that the party would not attend the meeting unless it was allowed to meet Imran Khan.

On the other hand, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur attended the meeting, as he said that it was necessary to attend the meeting in view of the increasing incidents of terrorism in the province.

The government has criticized the PTI’s decision. Defense Minister Khawaja Asif said that the PTI’s refusal to attend the important meeting on national security is against patriotism. He said that at this time, the country needs unity and solidarity, and political differences should be kept aside and national interest should be given priority.
