Education revolution in Punjab: Maryam Nawaz announces solarisation of schools and provision of modern facilities

LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz chaired a meeting on the existing and proposed projects of school education, in which a number of measures were announced for the betterment of the education sector.

The meeting was informed that outsourcing of more than 11,000 schools in Punjab has been completed, which has resulted in a unique record of enrollment of 11 lakh children.

Maryam Nawaz congratulated the education minister on this achievement and directed the school management council to ensure the provision of necessary facilities within 90 days.

She ordered the construction of required classrooms in all schools within a year and the construction and repair of 580 dilapidated and 2770 dilapidated buildings.

The Chief Minister set a target of providing spoken English training from English trainers to 5 lakh children and directed to expand the scope of the School Meal Programme to other districts and tehsils in proportion to the malnourished children.

She directed the building of Nawaz Sharif School of Eminence for girls and boys in every district, in which IT and science labs, libraries, multi-purpose playgrounds, and other modern facilities will be provided.

Further, the plan for upgradation of 250 schools and creation of 300 tech-ed schools in 10 tehsils of Punjab in the next financial year was also presented.

Announcing steps to install solar systems in schools, Maryam Nawaz said that she wants to do a lot of work for the education of children, and other facilities, including toilets, are indispensable in every school.
