The KSE 100 Index recorded a decline of 2.36 percent year-to-date (FYTD), while the overall increase in the calendar year (CYTD) index remained at 1.14 percent.

Among the prominent stocks that contributed positively to the performance, FFC was at the top, which increased by about 306.55 points. Apart from this, PTC, INDU, TRG and POL also supported the index to a limited extent. On the other hand, ENGRO, LUCK, UBL, HUBC and PPL were the major bearish drivers and had a significant negative impact on the overall index.

Meanwhile, the KMI 30 index also remained under severe pressure and closed at 248,057.23 points after a decline of 2,757.70 points or 1.10 percent. During the day, its highest level was 249,572.68, while its lowest level was 247,771.06. 87.97 million shares of companies included in the index were traded.

In the KMI 30 index, FFC played the most positive role with 592.57 points, while TREET and HCAR also provided limited support. On the contrary, ENGRO, LUCK, HUBC, PPL and MEBL showed significant negative performance, putting pressure on the index.

According to market experts, selling pressure in energy, banking and large industrial companies in the recent session affected investor confidence. They say that in the next few trading sessions, the country’s economic indicators, financial results of companies and improvement in investor confidence will play an important role in determining the direction of the market.
