Severe heat wave forecast in Pakistan, fear of heat wave in southern areas

Islamabad: The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued a forecast of a severe heat wave in the southern parts of the country.

According to the Meteorological Department, temperatures are likely to be higher than normal in some areas of southern Punjab, Sindh and Balochistan from April 29 to May 3, which may lead to a heat wave situation.

The report states that from the night of April 27 to April 29 and again from May 3 to 5, a westerly wind system will affect the upper areas, due to which a decrease in temperature of 2 to 4 degrees Celsius is expected.

The Meteorological Department has warned that May and June are the hottest months in the country, with temperatures sometimes reaching 52 degrees Celsius in southern Punjab, upper Sindh and southern Balochistan.

According to the statement, the temperature in these areas usually ranges between 43 and 45 degrees Celsius in May and June, however, it is currently being recorded 2 to 4 degrees higher than normal.

The Meteorological Department has clarified that the situation is being continuously monitored and if the intensity of the heat wave increases, an alert will be issued in a timely manner.
