Lahore – Punjab Traffic Police has strictly warned citizens to make it mandatory to use turn indicators while driving; otherwise, strict action will be taken as per the law.
According to a traffic police spokesperson, one of the major reasons for the increasing accidents on the roads is the irresponsible behaviour of drivers and not using indicators. Officials said that when a driver suddenly takes a turn or changes lanes and does not signal, the vehicles and motorcyclists coming from behind do not get timely information, which leads to dangerous accidents.
According to the police, traffic rules are not made only for fines but for the protection of the lives and property of citizens. Using indicators is a simple but very necessary act that can save many lives.
Officials added that unfortunately, most citizens ignore this simple but important rule, due to which the accident rate is increasing. The traffic police made it clear that there will be no leniency towards this violation in the future.
According to the spokesperson, along with the awareness campaign, action will also be taken against those who violate the law to encourage citizens to drive safely.
