Lahore: The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a weather alert, warning of expected rain in several parts of the country from October 5 to 7.
According to the NDMA, intermittent rain is likely to lash various areas of Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan. The authority has warned that the water level in the Chenab River is expected to rise during this period. Meanwhile, the water flow in the Sutlej and Ravi rivers will largely depend on the release of water from Indian reservoirs.
The statement further said that the water level in the Swat, Panjkora and Kabul rivers may also rise. In addition, there is a risk of possible landslides due to heavy rains in Gilgit-Baltistan and other mountainous areas.
The NDMA has advised provincial authorities and local administrations to remain alert and take precautionary measures to minimize possible damage.
