Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has taken strict notice of the tragic incident of the roof collapse of a tuition centre in the Kahna area of Lahore and has immediately sought a detailed report from the concerned authorities. Expressing deep sorrow and grief over the loss of precious lives in the tragedy, she has also issued instructions to provide all possible and best medical facilities to the injured children.
In her statement, the chief minister expressed heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the families of the deceased children and said that this tragic accident has saddened the entire nation. She directed the concerned institutions not to neglect any kind of negligence in the treatment of the injured children and to provide them with the best medical facilities.
This sad incident took place in the Kahna area of Lahore, where the roof of a private tuition centre suddenly collapsed. At the time of the accident, several children were present in the class who were buried under the debris.
According to Punjab Health Minister Khawaja Imran Nazir, 14 children have died in the accident. He said that a total of 19 children were shifted to Kahna Hospital, out of which 5 injured children are still undergoing treatment while other victims were provided with necessary medical assistance.
According to the residents of the area, the children were coming to the centre to get tuition as usual when the roof of the building suddenly collapsed. Immediately after the accident, the locals started relief operations with their own help, while rescue teams also reached the spot and removed the debris and took out the victims.
The authorities are examining various aspects to find out the reasons for the accident. In light of the report sought by the Chief Minister, further steps are expected to be taken to identify those responsible and prevent such incidents in the future.
