Anti-polio campaign in Punjab to start from October 13, appeal to parents for cooperation

Lahore: An anti-polio campaign is going to start in Punjab province from October 13, during which every child up to 5 years of age will be given polio drops.

Head of the Polio Program Adeel Taswar said that more than 200,000 health workers will participate in this campaign to vaccinate more than 23 million children.

He said that the rate of polio virus in the province has reduced from 43 percent to 28 percent, which is a clear decrease compared to the past. However, he expressed concern that Lahore and 15 other districts are still infected with the virus, while Lahore is becoming a center for internal spread of the virus.

Adeel Taswar said that parents should fully cooperate with the anti-polio teams so that the complete eradication of the virus from the province can be achieved.
