Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced a new strategy, making the security of Chinese citizens in the country conditional on economic security and protection of foreign investment.
Speaking at a high-level meeting, the Prime Minister said that China is Pakistan’s most important economic partner, and it is the government’s responsibility to protect this partnership.
The Prime Minister said that CPEC is now entering its second phase, in which business-to-business cooperation will be expanded. He clarified that the trust of Chinese companies is the main pillar of Pakistan’s economy, and the safety of Chinese residents has been given a national priority.
The Prime Minister was informed that Safe City projects are underway across the country and modern camera systems are being made mandatory in new residential projects.
PM Shahbaz Sharif directed that facilities for Chinese citizens at airports be improved and the business environment be made more secure.
