Pak Army’s relief operation intensified in flood-affected areas, 28,000 people shifted to safer places

Islamabad: Pakistan Army has further intensified relief operations in flood-affected areas. DG ISPR Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry said that relief activities are ongoing through 26 flights of military helicopters, in which thousands of people have been shifted to safe places so far.

He said that one engineer brigade, 19 infantry and 7 engineering units are active in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Azad Kashmir. So far, 28 thousand people have been shifted to safe places while 225 tons of ration have been distributed to the affected people.

According to DG ISPR, more than 20 thousand people have been provided medical assistance, rescue operations are underway in various areas including Kartarpur, Gujranwala, Bahawalpur and Bahawalnagar. Air relief operations have also been carried out in Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir, while the Karakoram Highway and Jaglot-Skardu Road have been opened.

He said that the Pakistan Army has always been with the nation in difficult times and is still present at every place to help the people.
