Millions of mobile SIMs at risk of being closed, NADRA warns citizens

​Islamabad: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has issued a major alert regarding millions of expired CNICs and the services running on them across the country.

​Key points:

​Banking and SIMs: Citizens whose CNICs have expired may have their bank accounts frozen and their mobile SIMs blocked.

​Government programs: People holding expired cards may be deprived of the Ehsaas Program, Benazir Income Support and other government and welfare facilities.

​Lakhs of SIMs at risk: According to records, more than 8.1 million mobile SIMs are currently active on expired CNICs, which will be closed if they are not renewed immediately.

NADRA has instructed citizens to renew their identity cards immediately to avoid any inconvenience so that their daily needs and financial matters are not affected.
