Islamabad: The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics has released a report on the weekly prices of sugar, saying that sugar prices in different cities of the country are constantly fluctuating, while Quetta has proven to be the most expensive city this time too.

According to the report, the price of sugar in Quetta has reached Rs 229 per kg, which is Rs 19 more than last week. After this increase, consumers in Quetta are buying sugar at the highest rate in the country.

The maximum price of sugar in Peshawar was recorded at Rs 200 per kg, while in Karachi and Islamabad this price was up to Rs 195 per kg. The average maximum price of sugar in Rawalpindi was noted at Rs 190 per kg.

The report states that overall, the average price of sugar in the country has decreased by Rs 2.1 paisa to Rs 185.47 paisa compared to last week.  However, the average price has increased from Rs. 132.24 to the current level in the past year, which makes it clear that sugar inflation is still a major burden for the public.
