ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s IT sector maintained a positive momentum in the last fiscal year and recorded a significant increase in exports.
According to data released by the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, IT exports increased by 20.6 percent during the fiscal year 2025-26, while exports in June 2026 alone were 23 percent higher than the same month of the previous year.
According to official data, exports of IT and IT-related services reached $416 million in June, reflecting the continuous improvement of the sector.
This increase comes at a time when Pakistan is trying to transform IT into a key export-enhancing sector. In the last few years, software houses, freelancers and IT companies have expanded their businesses abroad, due to which the demand for Pakistani technology services in the global market has also increased.
According to official records, the volume of IT exports in the fiscal year 2024-25 was $3.8 billion, while the latest figures show that the sector is continuously moving forward and increasing its share in the country’s exports.
IT industry circles say that if policies are consistent, internet infrastructure is improved and local companies are given more access to the global market, Pakistan’s IT exports can grow even faster in the coming years.
