Rawalpindi: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman Barrister Gauhar has stressed the need for talks with the government on political issues and said that negotiations should be held to take matters in a better direction.
Talking to the media in Rawalpindi, he said that in the current circumstances, negotiations are not taking place between the government and PTI. According to him, the atmosphere seems colder this time as far as backdoor contacts are concerned.
Barrister Gauhar also objected to the alleged lack security provided to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi in Lahore. He said that the Chief Minister was made to sit in a car and left at a square, which is regrettable.
He said that it is the responsibility of the relevant provincial institutions to provide security to the Chief Minister of another province. According to Barrister Gauhar, such incidents can further increase the political distance instead of reducing it.
The PTI Chairman also demanded an apology from Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz and the Punjab Police for the alleged incident.
Talking about the matter related to the founder of PTI, Barrister Gauhar said that he should have been shifted to the hospital as per the order of the Supreme Court. According to him, a medical board was also to be formed under the court’s direction, but it was not implemented.
He said that the PTI has filed contempt of court petitions in the Supreme Court over the non-implementation of court orders.
Barrister Gauhar further said that the issue related to the health of the PTI founder has been turned into a constitutional crisis. According to him, political issues should be resolved through talks and it is necessary to restore contacts to reduce the current tension.
