According to the officials, a total of 16,654 applications were pending. Out of these, 11,695 users were contacted directly by the Pakistan Information Technology Company (PITC). The users were provided with necessary information through mobile messages and WhatsApp.

The Power Division says that the facility of checking online status will enable users to know the current stage of their application. The aim of this move is to improve access to information and make the application process more transparent.

The spokesperson has specifically instructed solar consumers not to pay any money to any agent or unrelated person for processing the application. According to officials, it is important to be wary of people who charge fees in the name of facilitating the government process.

According to the Power Division, one of the objectives of direct communication with consumers is to eliminate unnecessary interference. Along with protecting the interests of legitimate consumers through verification of applications, attention is also being paid to preventing illegal connections.

Energy Minister Owais Leghari has said that the government is in favor of promoting renewable energy, especially solar energy. According to him, the government’s aim is not to stop the process of solarization but to advance it in a transparent and sustainable manner.

Officials say that digital monitoring of applications will enable consumers to get timely information and transparency in the net metering system is expected to further improve.
