Lahore: The Punjab Education Department has sent a proposal for new working hours for schools in view of the winter season to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif for approval. After approval, an official notification in this regard will be issued across the province.

According to sources, under the new hours, the morning assembly will be held at 8:30 am, and classes will start by 8:45 am. The primary section will end at 1:30 pm, while the middle and high schools will end at 2:00 pm. On Fridays, schools will remain open from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm.

Clarifying reports on social media about the cancellation of the weekly holiday, Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat has said that the weekly holiday will continue; schools will remain closed on Saturdays.

According to the Education Department, the working hours have been changed to protect students from the cold during the cold season.
