Lahore: In a fiery rebuttal to PPP statements, Punjab Information Minister Uzma Bukhari vehemently defended the provincial government’s stance on water rights and farmer welfare, accusing the PPP of undermining provincial harmony. Uzma Bukhari stated that any interference in Punjab’s internal governance amounts to a violation of the Constitution and accused the PPP of playing the “provincialism card” for political gain.

The Minister challenged the PPP’s sudden concern for farmers, demanding to know why the Sindh government, run by the PPP, failed to procure wheat from its own growers. She sternly declared that the people of Punjab hold the primary right to their own resources, dismissing the notion that the province needs any external approval for utilizing its water.

Uzma Bukhari reaffirmed the commitment of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to ensuring Punjab’s farmers receive their water entitlements “at all costs.” She suggested the PPP’s harsh criticism might stem from fear of the CM’s rising public support. Furthermore, she slammed the PPP’s prolonged governance in Sindh, which she claimed has left the public facing a “sea of problems,” and reminded Punjabis that the PPP had once “mocked” their suffering.
