Islamabad: Federal Minister for Information Attaullah Tarar has reacted strongly to the postponement of the long march by PTI, saying that the Tehreek-e-Insaf had made big claims regarding the protest, but now the date of the march has been moved forward.
Attaullah Tarar, in his statement, raised questions about the PTI’s protest programme and said that if the party was ready for the march, it should have given it a practical form. His statement came at a time when the PTI had decided to change the date of the long march.
The federal minister also turned the conversation to the law and order situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. According to him, there are terrorism, illegal mining and other security issues in the province. He also mentioned the firing incidents that took place in Kurram.
Attaullah Tarar claimed that 472 security personnel were martyred and 1,500 were injured this year. However, these figures are attributed to his statement. He said that the security forces are continuing their operations against terrorism.
The federal minister also accused the PTI of double standards in the matter of terrorism. According to him, terrorism has affected various political parties in the country, so all political forces should take a clear stand against this threat.
Attaullah Tarar also criticised the proposed law of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police. He said that the provincial government should focus on improving the training, resources and professional capacity of the police. Earlier, the government had also raised objections to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police Act 2026.
The federal minister also levelled allegations against the PTI leadership of allegedly facilitating terrorist elements. These allegations are part of the government’s stance, and the PTI’s response to them has been coming out on various occasions; hence, they have been described in the news as allegations.
The political differences between the federation and the PTI on the issue of the long march continue at a time when the government has also approved the deployment of Rangers in Islamabad and some areas of Punjab. According to the Interior Ministry, this deployment has been made in view of the law and order situation.
On the other hand, the government has already said that the Islamabad High Court’s decision regarding the long march will be implemented. Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi had also said that the government will fully implement the court’s decision.
Attaullah Tarar said that security forces are playing their role against terrorism. According to him, the operations of state institutions will continue, and efforts will be taken forward to eliminate terrorism.
