Islamabad: The federal government has slashed the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel by 58 paise per litre. The new prices will come into effect from 29th to 31st August 2026.
The petrol price has been cut by 58 paise per litre, the notification made by the Petroleum Division said. This cut has brought petrol’s price down to Rs 342.2 per litre.
Likewise, the cost of HSD is cut by 17 paise per litre. As per the new reduction, the price of diesel will be Rs 371.44 per litre.
This cut has been effected through the continuous daily price determination system. Through this system, local rates are changed by considering the prices of oil in the global market and other relevant factors.
Prices of petrol and diesel were also cut a day before for Aug 28. The price of petrol at that time was Rs 342.60 paise per litre, while for high-speed diesel, it was Rs 371.61 paise per litre.
After the latest reduction, the price of petrol has been reduced by a total of 58 paise, while the price of diesel has been further reduced by 17 paise. But because the reduction is relatively small, the effect of the reduction on the monthly fuel consumption expenses of consumers will be limited.
